North Holdings Group is a privately held holding company. We acquire and steward mid-market businesses across commodities, industry and technology — and we hold them for decades, not quarters.
North Holdings Group was formed in 1998 to bring a small number of British engineering and trading businesses under common, patient ownership. Today the group is home to fourteen operating companies, each with its own management team, brand and balance-sheet discipline, supported by a small central office in the City of London.
We are owned by the families and long-standing partners who founded the group. There is no exit clock and no fixed investment period — only a standing obligation to hand each business on in better condition than we found it.
“We buy businesses we understand, and then we give them time. Everything else follows from that.”
Daniel Okonkwo — Chief Executive
Each division is led by a managing director who sits on the group operating board. Together they employ around 2,400 people in nine countries, serving customers in more than forty markets.

The group board comprises three executive directors, two independent non-executive directors and the Chair. It meets six times a year, reviews capital allocation across every division, and publishes an annual stewardship review that has never omitted a portfolio company.
Each operating business keeps its own board, its own management team and its own decision rights. The centre sets the standard; it does not run the companies.
